THE
GREAT CANCER DOG CHASE
2002!
Our First Event!![]() |
![]() On April 13th, our dog team's first fundraiser was part of a big Relay-for-Life drive at the 4-Corner Shopping Center in Onley when the shiny new red-white-and-blue Jeep being raffled off was on display. Linda Nyborg, overall captain of all Eastern Shore teams, gave me a close look at the Jeep. |
My
next-door neighbor, Chuck Wheat, sold hotdogs for our team from his fancy hotdog
machine. The hotdogs were delicious--I know because Mom gave me a taste of hers.

|
One
of our team's projects to raise money is to sell little toy Dalmatian dogs. Yep,
there I am, sitting in the middle of 1001 Dalmatian dogs. I am definitely NOT
for sale--but every one of those little yippy Dalmatians is!
|
Judy Shield ties down the beautiful cancer-chase banner that our dog team leader, Dr. Paula Cameron, painted, while D. J. Colona and I talk about the
Relay. The words on the banner are, "Dogs Help Humans Raise Money to
Fight Cancer," and it shows canine cancer survivors that Dr. Cameron has
treated chasing the cancer monster. If you look closely, you'll see I'm
helping to lead the chase.

A few of our team members posed for Peggy Swan, publicity person, around the Dalmatians and me. Clockwise, starting on the left, are (back) Chuck Wheat, Dick Taylor, April Woods, Paula Ashbridge; and (front) Carol Ann Hawkins, Judy Shields, my mom, and D. J. Colona. If you look closely, you'll see that I am in the middle of all those Dalmatian dogs, so I guess my name might be listed, too, at front center! |
