| Members of a new Relay For Life team, the Great Cancer Dog
Chase Team, Carol Ann Hawkins, Judy Shields, Linda Bailey, and Anne Nock
sold hot dogs at their first fund raising event. Their team also
includes Captain Paula Cameron, Alex Hawkins, Caramine Holcomb, Lark
Smith, Abigale Gibson, Sally Foster, Linda Pruitt and Evelyn Nock. They
are planning a K-9 5K Dog Walk in the town of Onancock on May 25. Anyone
with a well-behaved dog on a leash, with proof of current rabies
vaccination, and the $5 entry fee, and the desire to help raise funs for
cancer is urged to walk 5 kilometers (2/1/2 miles), starting across from
the Post Office In Onancock and walking a prescribed route through the
town. Watering spots will be provided along the route for dogs and their
owners. |
The team is also planning a Dog Show on Saturday, June 15,
from 9 a.m. until noon, at Maplewood Gardens, on Seaside Road between
Exmore and Nassawadox. There will be prizes for pups in these classes:
Best Costume, Longest and Shortest Ears, Best Tail Wag, Curliest Coat,
Muttiest Mutt, Best Trick, Frisbee/Tennis Ball Catch, Most Obedient,
Obstacle Course, Pet/Owner Look Alike, and Smallest/Biggest. There will
be a $5 entry fee for each class. Owners of well-behaved and leashed
canines must provide proof of current rabies vaccination. For
