| As
licensed Therapy dogs, Winnie and I have been visiting residents on a regular
basis for several years in the Hermitage, a continuing care community near our
home. Because we love cheering up older people, I am writing a book
about therapy dogging to encourage other dogs and dog lovers to become therapy
dog teams wherever they live.
Occasionally we do animal-assisted therapy in other retirement communities as depicted below in photographs taken at a recent Wellness Fair held at Westminister-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay which is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. On several previous occasions, we had visited our cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ames, at Westminster-Canterbury, but we had never been in the assisted-living area until the Health Services Administrator, Mr. Bill Pine, invited us to participate in the Wellness Fair. On that day, while making a therapy round, we made some wonderful new friends, two of whom are pictured here.
